UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED!!
We are VERY proud to announce that today, Wednesday March 19, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted to accept and approve MTB LoCo’s MOU governing our relationship regarding trail design, build, and maintenance responsibilities at the Evergreen Mills multi use trails park!!
So… what does this mean?
- Today’s approval was the last hurdle to opening these trails to mountain bikers. There are approximately 6 miles of trail in place, but not quite ready to be opened. We are planning to have at least 1 trail work party prior to officially opening the trails for riding, but we are planning to have this completed in early April. This will mostly include installing signage and trail maintenance resulting from our rough winter weather.
- This initiates a 6 month evaluation period, after which the Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, and Community Service (PRCS) department will consider allowing access and building of additional mountain bike trails at other PRCS properties.
- This agreement will serve as the foundation from which MTB LoCo will build additional relationships with other Loudoun County agencies and towns.
- Our efforts here also demonstrate the type of positive relationship we are working to build with the equestrian, hiking, and trail running communities. Specifically, we would like to thank our equestrian friends at the Leesburg based United States Trail Ride for their support and shared trail related responsibilities.
Thank you for your support, and keep an eye out for the posting of our first Evergreen Mills work party!
